R Crash Course - Zurich, 3 March 2016

Tobias Setz and Diethelm Würtz offer an R Crash Course for students from ETH and University Zurich.
The course takes place as part of the lecture in "Computational Physics and Econophysics" and the "Seminar in Computational Finance for CSE".

18:15 - 19:15 Language Basics
Contains: About R, Data Structures, Programming, Basic Statistics, Writing Reports
19:30 - 20:30 Graphics Basics
Contains: Devices, High- and Low-level plotting, Layouts, X-Y-Z plots, Case Studies (Distributions and Linear Modelling)

Preparations:
It is of advantage to bring your laptop having R , RStudio and a LaTeX distribution (for Windows e.g. MiKTeX ) installed. The LaTeX distribution is the least important since it is only used for a very small part of the course (reports). Generally don't bother if you don't have a laptop or if you don't succeed in installing the programs. The slides will be distributed as pdf's and contain all the code such that the examples can be replicated anytime.
